Staff Spotlight: Director Maridel Perdomo
Maridel Perdomo came to Schools for Children as director of Winn Brook Extended Learning Program in 2015. In fall 2021, we drew on her expertise as we partnered with the Brookline Early Education Program to serve preschool students at the Lynch Extended Learning (LExL) and Putterham Extended Learning (PExL) Programs.
Before coming to Schools for Children, Maridel successfully led a large, complex program operated by the Boston YMCA and located at the Gardner Pilot Academy in Allston. Earlier she was the director of the Pine Village (bilingual) Preschool in Cambridge. also worked for several years in a variety of programs operated by Centro Latino, Inc. in Chelsea. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, she has earned the admiration of children, parents and staff in her prior work environments. This is illustrated in the admiration that one former employee shared in describing Maridel.
According to the coworker, Maridel is an “inspirational leader … super organized … and extremely hard working.” She also has an affinity for bringing communities together to support the development and well-being of children. In her time at Schools for Children, Maridel has been a creative and innovative program leader. Families, staff and the larger school communities rave about her wonderful relationship with children, who feel loved, cared for and listened to.
