School for Children Extended Learning Programs (SFC ExL) is a licensed, nonprofit, school-based child care organization that provides safe, structured and enriching programming for preK students (2.9 to 5 years old) to elementary school students (Grades K-4). We are looking for responsible, talented, creative, alert and energetic people with a good sense of humor and lots of patience. We are especially interested in applicants with special skills and interests, including but not limited to sports, music, languages, the arts, theater, science, writing and computer skills.

 

Job requirements include contributing to ongoing program development, supervision and direction of indoor and outdoor games and activities, behavioral management, assisting students with homework, and providing a safe, respectful, caring and constructive environment for all students.

 

This is a great opportunity to gain experience working with school-age children in a continually developing and growing field, especially for college-age or graduate students 

 

Salary is negotiable and based on your history working with children, education level and life experience. At our Winn Brook (Belmont) after school program the hours are Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at our Putterham & Lynch Extended Learning Programs in Brookline, Monday through Friday from  The programs are based on the public school calendar of the cities where they are located. We can be flexible in building a schedule that works for both of us.

Schools for Children Extended Learning Programs offer before-and-after-school programming for students attending the Winn Brook Elementary School in Belmont and the Brookline Early Education Program (BEEP).

 

SFC ExL provides enriching educational and recreational activities and guides students toward positive interaction with others, respecting each student’s individual needs. We believe that students learn through developmentally appropriate, hands-on experiences and honor the essential value of interactive play. We serve 200 students within the three locations.

 

The Extended Learning Programs are looking for a responsible, self-motivated, energetic, caring and creative person to fill our Assistant Director Position.

 

Responsibilities

The primary focus of the Assistant Director is to work in collaboration with the ExL Program Director and to have responsibility for overseeing the two Brookline Pre-K programs and to work in the Belmont ExL location at least one day per week.

 

The ExL Programs are located at:

  • Putterham Elementary, Brookline – One Pre-K classroom
  • Lynch Elementary, Brookline – Two Pre-K classrooms
  • Winn Brook Elementary, Belmont – Eight K-4th grade classrooms

 

Qualifications

  • Strong administrative skills (organization, supervision, writing, computer technology, time management)
  • Curriculum experience in early childhood education.
  • A passion for working with children.
  • Leadership skills in the supervision of staff and execution of programming.
  • We are looking for candidates who possess the confidence and supervisory talents to effectively supervise, evaluate and support staff with widely varied teaching experience.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to take initiative, and able to think on their feet.
  • Applicants must be critical thinkers, able to multitask, and have a “can do,” positive attitude.

 

Job Requirements

 

General

  • EEC Director certification is required.
  • Previous experience working with preschool children and supervising staff is required.
  • Transportation between programs (mileage will be reimbursed)
  • Maintaining EEC guidelines and licensing regulations
  • Building a positive, safe, fun, respectful and caring environment for children and teachers.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Attendance and record-keeping
  • Staff supervision and training
  • Parent communication
  • Ongoing enrollment
  • Monitoring and ordering supplies
  • Working in the classrooms if subbing or support is necessary

 

Salary / Hours / Location

Salary – $30 – $35 per hour based on experience, certification and level of education. A competitive benefits package is provided and varies based on hours worked and longevity with the program.

 

Hours – Work hours are 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The school schedule is based on the Brookline and Belmont public school calendars. The preschool program runs from 12:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

 

Location – Putterham, Lynch and Winn Brook Extended Learning Programs (PExL, LExL & WBExL) are licensed, school-based programs that provide safe, structured, and enriching Extended Learning programming for preschool students from 2.9 to 5 years of age and school-age in Belmont. PExL, LExL and WBExL operate out of their respective schools in Brookline and Belmont, Mass.

The ExL Programs offer before-and-after-school programming for students attending the Winn Brook Elementary School in Belmont and the Brookline Early Education Program (BEEP). It provides enriching educational and recreational activities and guides students toward positive interaction with others, respecting each student’s individual needs. We are looking for responsible, self-motivated, energetic, caring, and creative people to fill our Group Leader Teacher Position. No teaching certification is needed. We are interested in applicants with special skills and interests, including but not limited to, sports, music, arts, theater, science, nature, writing, and computer skills. Candidates must have a passion for working with kids as well as a BIG voice and the confidence to lead not only a group of students but also their fellow staff members. We need people who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment who can take initiative and think on their feet. Applicants must be able to take direction and constructive criticism and use it positively. 

 

Daily Job Requirements

 

  • Providing supervision and direction of indoor and outdoor activities
  • Implementing and maintaining routines with respect to mandated policy and procedures
  • Assisting students with homework
  • Providing a safe, fun, respectful, and caring environment for all students

 

Salary

Hours 

After school program hours are 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (Wednesdays beginning at 1:30 PM). We can be flexible in building a schedule. The program schedule is based on the Belmont public school calendar. 

 

Winn Brook Extended Learning (WBExL) is a licensed, school-based program that provides safe, structured and enriching before and after school programming for elementary school students in Grades K-4. WBExL operates out of the Winn Brook Elementary School in Belmont, MA. We offer fun, supervised activities that aim to enhance children’s educational, social, physical, and emotional development.
